Rosa canina fruits have been used traditionally for the treatment of diabetes mellitus and its complications. The aim of current study was to evaluate the in vitro mechanism of action of R canina in managing diabetes mellitus. Seguridad y Precauciones

El uso de Rosa canina (escaramujo) requiere precaución debido a su actividad biológica sobre diversos sistemas metabólicos. En el caso de mujeres embarazadas o en periodo de lactancia, no existe evidencia clínica suficiente en humanos que garantice la seguridad total del consumo de extractos concentrados; por lo tanto, se recomienda evitar su uso terapéutico para prevenir cualquier riesgo de interferencia con el desarrollo fetal o la transferencia de compuestos bioactivos a través de la leche materna. En niños menores de 12 años, la seguridad no ha sido establecida mediante estudios controlados, y debido a que su sistema enzimático y metabólico está en desarrollo, se debe evitar el uso de dosis terapéuticas sin supervisión médica estricta. Respecto a las interacciones farmacológicas, es crítico considerar su efecto hipoglucemiante. Al combinarse con fármacos como la metformina o la insulina, Rosa canina podría potenciar la reducción de la glucosa en sangre, aumentando el riesgo de hipoglucemia (niveles peligrosamente bajos de azúcar). Asimismo, debido a su potencial efecto sobre la presión arterial y la función cardiovascular, su uso concomitante con antihipertensivos debe ser monitoreado para evitar hipotensión.
