Seguridad y Precauciones

El uso de Salvia (Salvia blancoana) requiere una supervisión cuidadosa debido a su actividad biológica. En el caso de embarazo y lactancia, no existe evidencia clínica suficiente que garantice la seguridad para el desarrollo fetal o neonatal; por lo tanto, su uso está contraindicado en estas etapas. El potencial efecto emenagogo (estimulación del flujo sanguíneo en el útero) mencionado en contextos etnobotánicos podría representar un riesgo de aborto espontáneo. Asimismo, la transferencia de compuestos polifenólicos a través de la leche materna no ha sido estudiada exhaustivamente, lo que impide asegurar la ausencia de efectos neurotóxicos o sistémicos en el lactante. Para niños menores de 12 años, la seguridad no está establecida. Los sistemas fisiológicos en desarrollo, particularmente el metabolismo hepático y la barrera hematoencefálica, son más vulnerables a las fluctuaciones de compuestos bioactivos.
