El uso de Artemisia gracilescens debe abordarse con extrema precaución debido a la complejidad de sus compuestos bioactivos. En el caso de mujeres embarazadas y en periodo de lactancia, el uso de esta planta está estrictamente contraindicado. La evidencia toxicológica sugiere que dosis elevadas pueden provocar toxicidad reproductiva, lo que implica un riesgo potencial de alteraciones en el desarrollo embrionario o fetal. Debido a que no existen estudios clínicos que garanticen la seguridad del paso de los metabolitos secundarios a través de la placenta o la leche materna, el riesgo de efectos teratogénicos (malformaciones) o de interferencia con el desarrollo hormonal del lactante es una preocupación primordial. Para niños menores de 12 años, la seguridad no está establecida.
