Qualea grandiflora is one of the species widely used in folk medicine to treat gastric ulcers in Cerrado of the central region of Brazil. The hydroalcoholic extract of bark (HE) of Qualea grandiflora was investigated for their ability to prevent and heal lesions in the gastric mucosa. The oral administration of HE exhibited antiulcer activity decreasing the ulcerative index induced by HCl/ethanol solution, indomethacin/bethanechol and stress. Seguridad y Precauciones de Uso: Qualea grandiflora (Pau terra) El uso de la especie Qualea grandiflora en la medicina tradicional requiere precaución, ya que la falta de estudios clínicos exhaustivos en humanos limita la determinación de un perfil de toxicidad estandarizado. A continuación, se detallan las advertencias de seguridad basadas en el conocimiento botánico y farmacológico disponible: Embarazo y Lactancia: No se recomienda el uso de Pau terra durante el periodo de gestación ni durante la lactancia materna. No existen datos suficientes que garanticen la ausencia de efectos teratogénicos (malformaciones fetales) o la capacidad de los compuestos de la planta para atravesar la barrera placentaria o excretarse en la leche materna. Niños: El uso en población pediátrica está contraindicado debido a la inmadurez de sus sistemas metabólico y renal, lo que aumenta el riesgo de toxicidad por acumulación de metabolitos secundarios. Interacciones con Fármacos: Debido a la presencia de compuestos fenólicos y posibles componentes con actividad biológica sistémica, existe el riesgo de interacciones farmacológicas.
