Climate sensitivity of seasonal radial growth in young stands of Mexican conifers.

Alteration of forest by climate change and human activities modify the growth response of trees to temperature and moisture. Growth trends of young forests with even-aged stands recruited recently when the climate became warmer and drier are not well known. We analyze the radial growth response of young conifer trees (37-63 years old) to climatic parameters and drought stress employing Pearson correlations and the Vaganov-Shashkin Lite (VS-Lite) model. This study uses tree rings of six species of conifer trees (Pinus teocote, Pinus pseudostrobus, Pinus pinceana, Pinus montezumae, Pinus ayacahu

Physical environmental conditions determine ubiquitous spatial differentiation of standing plants and seedbanks in Neotropical riparian dry forests.

Mexican tropical dry forests are remarkably extensive and floristically diverse despite manifesting alarming rates of deforestation. Riparian habitats within dry forests provide critical ecological benefits that may mitigate negative impacts, but processes underlying riparian functions are still not well understood. We identified physical environmental conditions affecting the composition and abundance of standing vegetation assemblages and woody and herbaceous components in soil seedbank assemblages of riparian corridors in central Mexico using mainly NMDS ordination techniques, permuted anal

Taxodione induces apoptosis in BCR-ABL-positive cells through ROS generation.

Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are hematopoietic malignancies caused by the constitutive activation of BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase. Although direct BCR-ABL inhibitors, such as imatinib, were initially successful in the treatment of leukemia, many patients developed drug resistance over time due to the gatekeeper mutation of BCR-ABL T315I. In the present study, we found that taxodione, a quinone methide diterpene isolated from Taxodium distichum, significantly induced apoptosis in human myelogenous leukemia-derived K562 cells, which were transformed by BCR-ABL

Antifungal abietane-type diterpenes from the cones of Taxodium distichum Rich.

The chemical composition of Taxodium distichum cones and the antifungal activities of twelve diterpenoids against two wood decay fungi, Trametes versicolor (white-rot) and Fomitopsis palustris (brown-rot) were examined. The chemical composition of the major extractive fraction, the n-C(6)H(14) extract, was evaluated and its antifungal properties were identified. Twelve diterpenoids including ten abietane-type components were isolated from the n-C(6)H(14) extract: 6,7-dehydroferruginol (1), ferruginol (2), 6,7-dehydroroyleanone (3), sandaracopimaric acid (4), taxodione (5), taxodal (6), taxodon

In vitro and in vivo antitumor effects of the diterpene-enriched extract from Taxodium ascendens through the mitochondrial-dependent apoptosis pathway.

Extracts and components of Taxodium ascendens Brongn, an excellent afforestation tree, have exhibited several activities, including antibacterial activity and inhibitory activity on carbonic anhydrase II. However, the anti-hepatocellular carcinoma (anti-HCC) activity of extracts from the leaves of T. ascendens (TALE) remains unclear. In the present study, six diterpenoid compounds were isolated from a TALE extract. Here, the pro-apoptotic activities and the molecular mechanisms of TALE and the compounds 1-6 on HepG2 and Hep3B HCC cells were evaluated.

Seguridad y Precauciones
