Terminalia chebula Retz, known as the "king" of Mongolian and Tibetan medicines, is a drug for a wide range of diseases. The main chemical components of myrobalan include triterpene acid, galloyl glucose, anthraquinonoid. The modern pharmacological studies show that myrobalan has multiple biological activities, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidation as well as anti-tumor. ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Gout is a metabolic disorder accompanied by high serum uric acid levels and joint inflammation due to disturbances in purine metabolism in the body. Seguridad y Precauciones

El uso de Terminalia chebula debe abordarse con extrema cautela debido a su potente actividad biológica. En el caso de mujeres embarazadas y lactantes, no existe evidencia científica suficiente que garantice la seguridad del consumo de este extracto en humanos; por lo tanto, su uso está contraindicado durante el embarazo para evitar riesgos potenciales al desarrollo fetal. En la lactancia, debido a que los compuestos bioactivos como los taninos y ácidos fenólicos pueden pasar a la leche materna, el riesgo de exposición al lactante es incierto, por lo que se recomienda evitar su administración para prevenir efectos sistémicos no controlados en el bebé. Para niños menores de 12 años, la seguridad de la Terminalia chebula no ha sido establecida. Debido a que los procesos metabólicos y la madurez de los órganos (especialmente el hígado y los riñones) en la infancia son distintos a los de los adultos, el uso de dosis terapéuticas podría resultar en toxicidad o alteraciones en el desarrollo. No se recomienda su uso en esta población sin supervisión médica estricta.
